FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why am I required to use this Enhanced Login Security?
A: In October of 2005, the FFIEC (Federal Financial
Institutions Examination Council) concluded that single factor security was inadequate
for online banking transactions and that Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
would have to be implemented by financial institutions before the end of 2006.
Single-factor authentication consists of a User ID and
Password (something the user knows), which is what we and other financial
institutions have been using for the past several years.
Multi-factor
authentication consists of not only something the user knows, but
something the user HAS. This could be anything from a USB token, card reader, biometrics
(fingerprint, retina scan) or many other methods.
Our MFA solution will use a secure ID cookie that will be
installed on your browser. Once installed, it will work seamlessly behind the
scenes and your login experience will be exactly the same. The big security
difference will be that your computer (something the user has) will now be the
second identifier in addition to the ID and Password.
Peoples First will be converting to this MFA solution on December
14th, 2006. We will brand this MFA solution as "Enhanced Login
Security." Enhanced Login Security strengthens security at login while
providing peace of mind for our retail
and commercial online banking customers. It protects against online fraud by
providing an additional end user authentication "factor" beyond the
username and password used today. This solution was designed to preserve the
convenience and usability of our online banking channel.

register as many computers as you wish. Your may register your home computer,
your office computer, your laptop, etc.

Q: What if I want
temporary access from a friend’s or relative’s computer?
A: You
may gain temporary access from any computer by using a one time use key that
will be emailed to you. Once you login using the key it will no longer be valid
and you will have to request another key for subsequent logins. Once you login
using the temporary key, you may then register the computer permanently by
clicking on your “User Options” and then “Enhanced Login Security” if you want
to. This is the method used to register multiple computers after you have
registered your main access computer. You
must have access to your email account to retrieve your login key. To do
so, it is imperative that you do not have our email address info@peoplesfirst.com in your spam
blocker, etc.

Q: Once
I’ve registered, how do I register other computers such as my work computer or
my laptop?
A: When
you register your main computer, you are then registered in the Enhanced Login
Security System. If you login from another computer the system “sees” that you
are already registered and then sends a temporary passcode via email to allow
you access from the new unregistered computer. Once you gain access to your
online account you must then click on your “User Options” and register the new
computer by clicking on “Enhanced Login Security” to register the new computer.
Once the new computer is registered you will login from that computer as usual.
It is imperative that your email address
is valid and that you have access to your email from the computer you are
trying to register. Also, you must be sure that any spam blockers you may have
will allow emails from info@peoplesfirst.com.

if I clear my cookies on my browser?
A: Clearing your
cookies will delete the session ID cookie used for Enhanced Login Security. You
will have to re-register your computer.

Q: What if I use
more than one browser?
A: You will have
to register each browser to use Enhanced Login Security. If you login from
Internet Explorer and then try and login from Firefox you will be emailed the
temporary passcode. Once you login using Firefox, you will need to register for
Enhanced Login Security in your “User Options” area within Internet Banking.
